Abstract

This zine was created as part of the ARCH 5115 course in Dalhousie University’s School of Architecture (Master of Architecture Program) that required students to develop an essay and transform it into a Zine relating to a topic of space and power. This specific zine begins with an analysis of “squatting activism” and goes on to examine the case study of the Occupation of the Polytechnic School of Athens in 1973, a squatting practice that served as one of the primary factors in overturning the ruling dictatorship in Greece at the time, illustrating how “squatting activism” is capable of opposing authoritarian governance.
