Abstract
This issue explores our relationships with soil, the ground, and overall the eco-political practices and material configurations of the urban surfaces beneath our feet. It introduces a set of “urban haikus” decomposing the social-material aspects of pavements and offers a quick guide for landscaping pavements by proposing to read them as urban collages that go horizontally but also deep down. This issue has been curated by Ester Gisbert Alemany.
